Pete Hendrick (Dallas Roberts) Takes the plunge off of the nonsensical-cliff in The Grey. Making the ultimate "Jesus Take the Wheel" face if I ever saw one.
**Spoilers**
I call it a nonsensical cliff because, well in the movie the cliff is the main thing that makes absolutely no sense. Apparently wolves will climb 150 foot sheer rock faces, only to visit a plane crash and attack the survivors for "threatening their den". XD Seriously, they like never even try to explain how the damn super wolves where on the top of the cliff, and then somehow got down. But needless to say, Hendrick got to show off how BAMF he was.
Seriously, Hendrick was the best character, he was quiet the whole film, was barely in any of the shots (and the director cut all of his background story scenes for some reason [link] ) And he's the only one who's got his shit together. Liam Neeson, I love the guy and any other movie this would not be the case, but he fucks shit up for them, royally. Diaz poops out, the wanna be bad-ass, Derpy Downey jr never really had a cool moment, he just had a high pain tolerance, and well the rest of them, didn't make it this far. XD
Hendrick on the other hand, is the only one who keeps his composure, tries keeping everyone civil, is the only one you could trust with the wallets, and he freaking jumped from a cliff face to a bunch of trees, he just did it like a boss. So I decided since I did the epic Liam Neeson Grey pic, I had to do an even more epic one for Hendrick. And I gotta say this one is waaaaay better, even sans-wolves.
I was originally going to give the other three really insane actions poses, but if you've seen the movie, well other than Diaz, they are off napping under a tree or something, rather than focus on the guy who's plummeting into some trees in order to save their asses. Thankfully Diaz was paying attention, cause it took Neeson like 20 minutes to finally bumble over and actually help. In fact they are doing more in this pic than they were in the movie. XD
**Super spoiler** I seriously can't believe after the whole movie, and how Hendrick holds his own, they drown him. :I I mean WTF is that?! And you telling me Neeson could pull his foot out of a rock? The pigeon lady in Home Alone could! But not GIANT ASS GRISLY BEAR NEEESON. So Hendrick, the only sane badass character drown 2 inches away from the surface. WTFisthashit?!
Anyways, done rambling, I love The Grey, I bought it on Blu-Ray right when it came out, it's one of my favorite movies now, even with the ridiculous Hollywood wolves and all the other non-sense. It's just a fun-badass movie. Go watch it, its fantastic.
dude, this is an amazing picture! I love the movement, and the expression, and the badassness of it! I couldn't even get this far in the film though. I thought the plane crash was cool, but basically... as soon as the SUPERWOLVES showed up, and WEREN'T hand-waved off *as* super wolves-- like, Neeson could have said, "This is a freak, super-aggressive pack, we're not sure why they're so big or aggressive and smart" or like, "This was a nuclear test site, maybe it affected the animals," or "radio-waves" or "asteroid" or "genetic experimentation" or "chemical spill" or SOMETHING-- no, Neeson's "wolf-expert" character just talks like this is what normal wolves are.... ooohhhh it pissed me off so much. Like we need anti-wolf propaganda in movies >_<
It's not a movie to be taken seriously. And if anything the movie is more 'anti-human propaganda'. The movie has alot of good points if you can wave off Hollywood's tendency away from reality. Most 'real' things in movies are exagerations, this movie is no different. But the cinematography, the music and atmosphere, and the characters potrayal themselves make this movie I love, even if it's not an amazing film. I still love and would watch it again anytime.
After reading your thoughts, I agree with you! I also liked the character of Hendrik, I believed he was going to be the only survivor due to his cool character, but nooo, they had to make him drown in a river...
